Three new randomly dyed shades
The three new randomly dyed shades are now here.
The Dappled Range is now.
Dappled Lime Green, Dappled Indigo, Dappled lilac, and Smoked Indigo.
Random dyeing is not quite as simple with natural dyes as it is with chemical dyes but the results are more harmonious.
The yarn first has to be mordanted with alum and then dyed the base colour.
Once it has been washed to remove any loose dye material, it is carefully shibori tied and then dipped several times in the indigo vat.
The result as you can see is a whole palate of interesting tones and shades.
