New Naturally Random Dyed Lace-Weight Yarn

The first dye lot of the Dappled Range is here.

Dappled Lime Green.

Random dyeing is not quite as simple with natural dyes as it is with chemical dyes but the results are more harmonious.

The yarn first has to be mordanted with alum and then dyed yellow using Weld.

Once it has been washed to remove any loose dye material it is dyed to a light green in the indigo vat. After which it is carefully shibori tied and then dipped several times in the indigo vat.

The result as you can see is a whole palate of interesting tones and shades.

Dappled Lime is already available on line, the next one to follow will be Dappled Lilac!

Of course if solid colours are what you are after you can find 100 naturally dyed shades of our lace weight yarn and more on our Lace Knitting pages.
