The pack consists of 20 gm of Oak natural dye extract and instructions on basic immersion dyeing on wool. These are sent to you via e-mail as a pdf.

This natural Oak acorn cup extract is taken from the Valonia Oak (Quercus aegilops), one of the most ancient of natural dyes. The exceptionally beautiful acorn cups of these trees have been collected for several thousands of years in Greece and Turkey. They are a high tannin source and have in the past been of great commercial value. They are still used for tanning high quality leather and for natural dyeing.

The samples in the image top right are all mordanted with alum and dyed in the same dye bath, there are from left to right:-

Wool (with iron after-bath), Wool/silk, Wool, Silk and Cotton. The variation in shade of the last two skeins is produced by changing the pH of the water.
