The pack consists of 25 gm of Red Lac extract and instructions.

Red Lac is one of the most ancient of natural dyes, it was the dye used to produced crimson for Persian carpets. It is a resinous substance produced mainly on the banyan tree, but to some extent on other trees, by the Laccifer lacca, a scale-shaped insect, the female of which fixes herself on the bark, and exudes this resinous substance.

Our Red Lac dye extract comes from India and has been GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standards) accredited.

The samples in the image are all mordanted with alum and dyed in the same dye bath, they are from left to right:-

Silk, Wool, Wool, Wool and a little bit of Linen peeping through.
