Weld Natural Dye Extract

$13.43 (25gms Weld dye extract)

The pack consists of 25 gm of Weld extract and instructions.

Weld (Reseda tinctoria) is my favourite dye for yellow. It is very light-fast and gives a strong, pure yellow. This yellow remains clear and lemony if the dye bath is not allowed above 70°C, this produces the perfect yellow to use as a base for greens and turquoises. When the dye bath simmers, as with the samples in the photo the yellow goes more towards red, thus giving a good base for oranges with Madder.

This extract is made from Weld grown in the Poitou-Charentes region in France and processed in France by Couleurs de Plantes, using methods that respect the environment and comply with organic textile certifications (Ecocert, Oekotex, Soil Association).

The samples in the picture were all mordanted with alum and immersion dyed in the same weld extract dye bath, from left to right they are:-

Wool, Wool and Silk.
