New Year Greetings

Dear Friends,

Here at Renaissance Dyeing as all over the world 2020 was a challenging year to say the least, but we've also felt incredibly grateful for the support of our community of stitchers everywhere. We couldn't have made it through without you, and we have been truly bowled over by the consistent support and warmth you've all shown towards our yarn and threads this year.

And so, embroiderers, stitchers, knitter, crocheters, weavers and all wool workers, we just wanted to say thank you. We hope that you have found some joy in the threads you have bought from us and we look forward to spending a brighter 2021 with you all.

Give Me Five

Give Me Five, High Five or Low Five is a gesture that has been in use for over 100 years. It originated as a sign of black solidarity in 1920s America. It is an offer or demand by one person to have their hand slapped by another, A celebratory mutual sign of having overcome an obstacle. Skin on skin, tingling joyous human contact, the sealing of a deal, a win-win situation.

Seems to us that we all need an offer of solidarity, a lot of good old fashioned human contact. With that in mind, together with French designer Hélène Marcy, we offer you the Give Me Five crochet shawl.

To wrap you and yours in.

To give a touch of warmth in these cold times.

Chose your own favourite colours to envelop yourself and your nearest and dearest.

Dyeing with oak bark

The dyeing processes I use are sometimes lengthy and sometimes demanding

On the blog you can follow a little story of one that is a bit of both of those but because of that extremely rewarding. I hope you agree.

Postage

As every year the postal charges have gone up a bit and we have passed some of it on to you. For the UK,(as well as other destinations) parcels under 400gm usually go as letter prioritaire so they will not be affected by customs duties as yet. It is the colissimo parcels that have to have a customs declaration on them for destinations outside the EU. As yet this has not affected any of our customers. Let us know if it does please.

We wish you all a year full of warmth, colour and repose.

Dear Andie and Adriaan, today my Bohemian Rhapsody skeins, all 75 of them, arrived in the post and what a wonderful set of colours it is! I have put them on a large bamboo platter on the coffe table, reluctant to undo these perfectly soft twirls of joy. Pure pleasure just to look and touch, the crochet will have to wait til tomorrow....thank you!
