In the words of the designer Kate Wallace:
In the introduction to Anne Feitelson's book 'The Art of Fair Isle Knitting," there is a photograph of a competition winning Fair Isle jumper. The jumper is from the 1920s and uses the traditional Fair Isle colours of red, white, yellow, blue and green and traditional Fair Isle motifs in a most original way. I have adapted the basic elements of the design to make a classic garment that should be a wonderfully warm and useful friend for many years.
Although the pattern looks complex it knits up quite quickly because the motifs are only 13 stitches square and there is also a limited number of colours so it is easy to remember the sequence.
Needle size: 2.75 mm to 3 mm
Level: expert, the pattern includes steeking.
Sizing: This jumper is not intended to be closely fitted.
There is slight shaping worked in. It fits a 34‐36"/86‐90cm bust a medium size. It can be worked on smaller or larger needles if a size smaller or a size larger is needed.
The kit includes:
