Old Fustic is made from the heartwood of Maclura tinctoria, a tree of the mulberry family originally found in the forests of Brazil and the West Indies.
Fustic gives a strong warm yellow and you can also use it to over dye it produces good greens with indigo or woad and a strong non-blue black with logwood and iron.
This natural dye extract is produced in France using procedures that respect the environment and comply with organic textile certifications (Ecocert, Oekotex, Soil Association).
The samples in the image are dyed in the same bath , the stronger hues in the original bath and the lighter one in the exhaust of that same bath they are from left to right:-
woollen scrim, silk, silk, cotton ribbon, wool, wool/cashmere mix and cotton.
